Torbay Country Bowling Club

Torbay Country Bowling Club, located in Torquay Road, Paignton, is a flat green lawn bowling club that offers a warm and friendly atmosphere for both members and visitors. The club has a rich history dating back to the 1920s when it was formed as part of the Torbay Country Club, which also included golf, tennis, squash, badminton, and a swimming pool.

In 1930, the bowling section of the club was established and named “Torbay Country Bowling Club”, with an official opening ceremony performed by Mrs. Graham Singer. The club initially accepted only male bowlers but later welcomed lady bowlers in 1932. It is proud to be affiliated with Bowls England and Bowls Devon, showcasing its commitment to the sport.

The club boasts a well-maintained flat green for lawn bowls, offering a pristine playing surface for enthusiasts of all skill levels. The green is lovingly maintained and cared for by the dedicated greenkeeping team, ensuring optimal conditions for a great game. The club is open most summer mornings from 10:00 hrs, with roll up rinks available for bowlers who have their own equipment. During the 2023 season, the club will be open from April 15th to September 17th.

The club prides itself on its friendly and welcoming approach, making it an ideal venue for touring sides and new members. The club has 12 rinks available for matches and can accommodate up to 14 rinks for special occasions. Club member Mary Jenkins serves as the Match Secretary and provides all the necessary information for clubs interested in arranging tours or matches at the club.
