Located in Richmond Hill, TNT Kung Fu School offers a unique blend of traditional Chinese martial arts training, with a focus on Taichi and Tongbei. The founder, who has been practising various Kungfu systems, has kept up with these two disciplines due to their philosophical foundations of Yin/Yang, the eight trigrams (Taichi), and the Five Elements (Tongbei).
Taichi, which was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2020, is a traditional physical practice characterized by relaxed, circular movements that work in conjunction with breath regulation and the cultivation of a neutral and righteous mind. Originating in China during the mid-seventeenth century, Taichi has now become a popular practice among people of all ages and ethnicities. It is influenced by Daoist and Confucian thought, as well as traditional Chinese medicine.
Tongbei, on the other hand, is a martial arts school popular in northern China, known for engaging opponents from maximum distance. The training methods in Tongbei are similar to that of internal styles, focusing on basic principles, combinations, forms training, two-person free sparring, weapons training, and qigong training. The Five Elements Tongbei takes the five elements of traditional Chinese philosophy as its core theory.
