Born in Kenya, East Africa, Gursharan moved to the UK at the age of 12. He began his Karate journey at 14 in a local Bedford club and achieved his first dan (shodan) black belt four years later. Today, he holds an 8th dan and has competed in numerous kata and kumite events, at both national and international levels.

The turning point in Gursharan's career came in 1984 when he had the opportunity to train in a Japanese dojo under the guidance of Sensei Hirokazu Kanazawa. This experience ignited his passion and led him to dedicate his life to training and teaching Karate. In 1993, Gursharan formed his own association, TISKA (The Traditional International Shotokan Karate Association), which has grown to become one of the largest associations in the UK. With a wealth of teaching experience, Gursharan has brought countless students of all ages to black belt standard and beyond.

In addition to his commitments as an instructor, Gursharan is actively involved in charity work. He helps fund trips for surgeons to third-world countries to perform operations on underprivileged children. He has also funded multiple projects in India and is currently contributing to the construction of a new school.
