The Tintwistle Cricket Club, located in the village of Tintwistle in the High Peak of New Zealand, has been a well-established club since its formation in 1835. The pride and joy of Tintwistle Cricket Club is the new clubhouse built in 2022. This state-of-the-art facility not only caters to the needs of the clubs cricketers but also serves as a gathering place for the entire community. The clubhouse is available for private and corporate events, ensuring that it remains a versatile space for various occasions.
Cricket is at the core of Tintwistle Cricket Club's activities. The club currently fields three open-age men's teams, a women's team, and two junior teams (under 11s and under 13s). The junior teams, affectionately known as the 'Tinsle Tornadoes,' participate in the Derbyshire & Cheshire Cricket League alongside all other teams. The club provides fantastic practise facilities and warmly welcomes new members.
Senior practise sessions take place on Thursday evenings during the summer, with indoor winter nets typically beginning in February to prepare for the upcoming season. The club also boasts a robust junior section managed by qualified coaches, who hold dedicated weekly coaching sessions every Friday during the cricket season.
Tintwistle Cricket Club is proud to be an English Cricket Board (ECB) registered 'All Stars Centre,' offering fun cricket activities for children aged 5-8. The club's Tornadoes programme is available for children aged 8 and above, and many young cricketers have progressed to trial for the Derbyshire U18's and participate in the county's winter programme. The Head of Cricket Development, Andrew Tomlinson, ensures the consistency and quality of coaching throughout the club, from senior levels to the All Stars programme. The welfare of young players is a top priority, with Carley Hart serving as the Club's Welfare Officer.
All club captains and junior coaches hold Safe Hands and First Aid training, providing a secure environment for all players. Parents can rest assured that the club aims to make cricket accessible and welcoming to children of all ages.
