Thrayee School of Bharatanatyam in Sydney, Australia offers training in the renowned and original traditional Kalakshetra style of Bharatanatyam. The school was established by the talented sisters, Radhika Shurajit and Gayatri Krishnamurthy. Gayatri, an accomplished artist and instructor, has trained rigorously under the Dhananjayans and also had the privilege of being trained by Padmabhushan, Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan, focusing on the expressive nuances of Bharatanatyam.
The sisters, along with Shobana Bhalchandra, have performed extensively in India and at international festivals around the world. They started their own school in Chennai and Coimbatore before Gayatri moved to Sydney in 2000 and continued teaching Bharatanatyam at Thrayee School, which is a registered institution in Sydney.
Gayatri has performed for various festivals and organisations in Sydney, including the Hindu Council, India Tourism Office, Sri Venkateswara temple, Indian Welfare Association, and Resourceful Australian Indian Association. She has also been invited to perform at events organised by local councils, such as street festivals and multicultural shows. In February 2007, Thrayee School's first student had her arangetram (maiden performance), which received rave reviews in the press.
Radhika Shurajit, the eldest of the Trio Sisters, is a professional performer and teacher of Bharatanatyam with over 30 years of experience. She is the first and senior-most disciple of The Dhananjayans and Padmabhushan Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan. Alongside Gayathri Krishnamurthy and Ms.
Shobana Bhalchandra, Radhika has performed extensively in India and at international festivals.
