Welcome to Thornton Cleveleys Taekwon-Do School! Established in 2011, we are an independent Taekwon-Do school located in the borough of Wyre in Northern Lancashire. We are proud to be the only Taekwon-Do centre in the area that practises the original 24 pattern version as devised by its founder, utilising Korean terminology.
Our Chief Instructor received his black belt and ITF Instructor Certificate in 1987 from Grandmaster Rhee Ki Ha FGMR, who is widely recognised as the father of UK Taekwon-Do. Grandmaster Rhee Ki Ha was the first Grandmaster in the world to be promoted by the founder, General Choi Hong Hi, IX. With this strong foundation, we offer a formal teaching system with a belt syllabus that emphasises regular attendance and commitment.
Our classes cater to adults and older children in Thornton and Cleveleys. In addition, we have a special Lil Dragons programme for children aged 4–6 years, taught in Thornton on Sundays. We also provide opportunities for younger children to develop leadership skills through our Junior Leader qualification.
As of July 2023, we are currently conducting a trial with local GP referral units, offering customers the chance to practise Ohnwahan or gentle Taekwon-Do in St Andrews Church Cleveleys on Friday afternoons at 2:00pm.
At Thornton Cleveleys Taekwon-Do School, we value outstanding students and believe in not holding them back. In 2023, we have launched a Gifted and Talented Programme to support these individuals.
Members of our school have exclusive 24-hour access to our syllabus through our website. They can view technical videos showcasing blocking techniques, patterns, kicks, and destruction techniques to aid in their grading preparations. Additionally, through our partnerships with other Taekwon-Do schools in London, our students can train there for free when visiting the area.
We prioritise small class sizes to ensure maximum teaching time for each student. This allows us to provide individualised attention and quality instruction. We encourage prospective students and parents to come and watch a session before making a decision. We are committed to being honest and transparent about whether our school is the right fit for you.
