Dance is not just an art form, but a passion that captures hearts and takes us on a journey of self-expression and creativity. At The Vanessa Millar School of Dancing in Belper, dance is not just taught, but celebrated and nurtured by our team of experienced and dedicated teachers.
Miss Vanessa, our Principal, started her dancing journey at the tender age of 4 in 1977. She has dedicated her entire career to our school, becoming a successful dancer herself and winning numerous trophies and participating in countless shows. Miss Vanessa took all her dancing exams with Miss Davies, the founder of our school, and later pursued teaching exams with the same institution. Her lifelong ambition was fulfilled in August 2003 when she became the principal of The Vanessa Millar School of Dancing.
Miss Tesh, our Senior Teacher, also started dancing before she even went to school. Trained by Miss Davies, the school runs in her blood as well. Miss Tesh teaches various dance genres and specialises in drama and musical theatre, providing a wide array of Lamda examinations. We believe in the transformative power of dramatic arts and the value of drama in society.
Our mission is to encourage and enable individuals to share in this experience through our training, productions, and facilities, helping each student recognise their potential.
Netes Allitt, another Senior Teacher at our school, is an Artistic Group Member with expertise in I-PATH Musical Theatre. Mark Webb, an immensely sought-after dancer of his generation, joins us once a month on Saturdays. Mark has performed with renowned musical artists such as Destiny's Child, Take That, Elton John, and many others. He has also choreographed for major brands and performed at prominent events and TV programmes.
Mark is passionate about passing on his knowledge and work ethic to the current generation and is a valuable asset to our school.
Rebecca, one of our teachers, shares a personal connexion with the school, having started her training at The Vanessa Millar School of Dance at the age of 6. Tap dance has always been her favourite style, and she carries the passion instilled by Miss Vanessa herself. Rebecca has achieved great success in her dancing career, including winning a bronze medal at the World Tap Dance Championships in Germany. She has performed in various roles, from singing to acting, and is currently a Show Captain and Choreographer at the Alton Towers Resort.
Rebecca continues to refine her tap skills through training with renowned masters and teaches adult tap classes and wedding dance tuition at our school.
