Established in 1912, The University of Queensland Cricket Club (UQCC) has been providing cricketing opportunities to the University of Queensland and the local community for over 100 years. As a foundation sporting club, UQCC joined the Queensland Grade Cricket Competition in the 1912/13 season and has been an active participant ever since.
The club's home ground is the stunning WEP Harris Oval, located at the University of Queensland's St Lucia campus. Named after the late WEP Harris, this picturesque oval is one of Brisbane's top cricket grounds. Its well-maintained facilities provide the perfect setting for cricket matches and training sessions.
UQCC's purpose is to offer cricketers the chance to play at the highest level while also nurturing and supporting young talent and contributing to the local community. The club has had remarkable success in the Brisbane leading Cricket competition, clinching 10 out of the last 12 Club Championships. Notable achievements include the men's 1st grade team securing three consecutive two-day premierships (2018/19, 2019/20, and 2020/21) and the women's 2nd grade team winning their first-ever leadingship during the 2022/21 season.
With a strong player pathway, UQCC currently fields eight men's teams, two women's teams, and a men's over 40s team in the Queensland top Cricket Competition. Additionally, the club participates in various community competitions with both men's and women's teams. At the junior level, UQCC proudly offers one of the best pathways programmes in Brisbane. This encompasses an entry-level programme for children aged 5 to 9, as well as junior boys and girls teams (U10-U16) in the Metropolitan South West Competition.
This pathway ensures a seamless transition for junior players into senior cricket at the club.
