

Welcome to the United Taekwondo International Wales (UTIW) in Cardiff, a well-established and respected karate club in the region. UTIW offers modern style Taekwondo classes while remaining committed to upholding traditional Korean principles. Founded in the early 1990s by Master Gary Brady, the club has affiliated with the Dutch UTI organisation under the guidance of Grand Master Karel van Orsouw. Over the years, UTIW has flourished to become one of the largest associations in South East Wales, training over 200 students to Black Belt and currently boasting nearly 250 active students.
UTIW prides itself on having talented instructors who are fully certified and qualified, with a minimum rank of 2nd Degree Black Belt. All instructors undergo a rigorous training programme, are First Aid certified, and have completed a DBS check before they can start teaching. Additionally, each instructor holds full professional indemnity insurance, ensuring the safety and well-being of our members.
At UTIW, we offer a comprehensive syllabus that covers various aspects of Taekwondo training, including patterns, belt colours, Korean terms for techniques, and self-defence skills. Our aim is to equip our members with the necessary knowledge and skills to thrive in their martial arts journey.
As a member of UTIW, you will have the opportunity to train and compete locally and internationally at competitions and training camps, broadening your horizons and enhancing your skills. With numerous clubs located in Cardiff and the surrounding areas, we are able to offer our excellent syllabus over a large geographical area, providing convenience and accessibility for our members.

UTIW is proud to have achieved NAKMAS accreditation, including the NAKMAS Covid-19 Compliance Certificate, which demonstrates our commitment to complying with NGB National Guidelines for Covid-19 safety. We also prioritise equality and have completed NAKMAS Equality Training Awareness.
