The Sawmill MTB Park

The Sawmill MTB Park, located in Bonville, is a thrilling and challenging cycling park nestled in Pine Creek State Forest. With its extensive trail network and exciting features, it offers an exhilarating experience for riders of all levels.

The park features approximately 14 km of trails, the majority of which are two-directional, so cyclists should keep an eye out for oncoming riders. A map at the trailhead showcases the popular trails, all of which start and finish at the carpark. This makes it easy for riders to navigate through the park and choose their preferred trails.

The trails at The Sawmill MTB Park are known for their variety and terrain. Beginners and intermediate riders will find a mix of flat, flowing single and double track along the banks of Pine Creek. As riders pick up speed, the trails become more challenging, offering a thrilling experience for those seeking an adrenaline rush.

It is important to note that The Coffs Harbour Cycle Club, responsible for the park, does not accept any liability for personal injury or equipment damage while riding any of the trails. Riders should ensure they ride at their own risk and take necessary precautions.

To reach The Sawmill MTB Park, travellers should head south along the Pacific Highway until they reach the interchange with Archville Station Road in Bonville. From there, they should turn right off the interchange and continue on Archville Station Road for about 200m. A left turn onto Pine Creek Way (south) leads to Sid Burke Forest Park, which serves as a starting point for reaching the park. Turning right off Pine Creek Way at Sid Burke Forest Park and following the bitumen road will eventually lead to the entrance of The Sawmill MTB Park.

Trailhead parking is available on the other side of the fence, away from the racetracks.

The Sawmill MTB Park offers a slightly more challenging trail network compared to its neighbouring park, Cows With Guns. It features various advanced features such as log runs and raised ramps, complete with secondary “B” lines for less experienced riders. It is advisable for riders to be accompanied by someone familiar with the trails, as they are not marked with arrows and are intersected by numerous moto trails.

Cyclists looking for a more advanced and adventurous experience will find The Sawmill MTB Park to be an exciting destination. However, riders should ride at their own risk and be aware that The Coffs Harbour Cycle Club does not assume any responsibility for injury or equipment damage.

To reach The Sawmill MTB Park from the roundabout, riders should proceed straight onto Butlers Road until they reach the T-junction of Glennifer Road. A left turn onto Glennifer Road will lead them to Gordons Road on the left, opposite the timber mill. Parking should be done away from any vehicle access routes. The trails start directly adjacent to the carpark and commonly follow an anti-clockwise direction.

In addition to Cows With Guns and The Sawmill, there are other exciting cycling trails in the area. For example, Jacks Ridge in Nambucca, developed by the Nambucca Valley Cycle Club, offers a scenic super-loop trail that combines old forestry roads with purpose-built, hand-carved single tracks. The emphasis here is on flow, with well-drained soil and structures for navigating fallen logs and gullies. More adventurous riders can take on the biggest log roll on the coast, which is a spectacular 29-metre roll accessed via a cleverly articulated pallet ramp.
