Welcome to The Sally Prout School of Dancing – Stroud! Founded by Sally Prout in 1985, this school provides a strong Classical Ballet foundation, which enhances all other dance forms.
Children from the age of 3 can start their ballet journey through playful lessons with stories and mime. As they grow, they can explore Tap and Jazz classes. Tap helps with rhythm and musicality, while Jazz offers a more expressive dance style.
Besides Ballet, Tap, and Jazz, modern/jazz dance classes are also available. The school adheres to the syllabuses of The Royal Academy of Dance (Ballet) and The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (Tap). Exams aren’t mandatory, but interested students must attend an extra class per week during exam term.
Classes are conducted in Stroud, Cam, Dursley, and Minchinhampton. The school boasts dedicated and skilled teaching staff, committed to high-quality training for all ages and abilities.
There are certain policies in place. A registration form is required upon joining the school. Fees are due termly in advance, and a 10% surcharge applies to late payments. A full half-term’s notice in writing is needed to discontinue any class, or fees must still be paid.
All students should attend classes in the appropriate uniform, with hair neatly groomed. Grade 2 ballet students and above must wear their hair in a bun. The school offers dancewear for purchase twice per term.
The Sally Prout School of Dancing – Stroud is proud of its students' success. Former pupil Lucy Waine is now a first artist at the Birmingham Royal Ballet, and Myles has been accepted to train at The Royal Ballet School, White Lodge.
