Dear Sports Community,
Jemima Rose, organiser of The Rose School of Ballet, located in Fulham and Barnes, London, is delighted to share exciting updates from the school. Focused on nurturing a passion for ballet, the school offers Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet classes for children aged 3 and above, and Silver Swans Ballet classes for adults aged 55 and over.
Founded in 2009 at Nuffield Health Fulham by Bridget Hearne-Saliba, the Fulham branch has thrived for over six years. In July 2015, Jemima Rose (BABE, RAD RTS) took the helm, rebranding it as The Rose School of Ballet. Before taking on the role, Jemima taught at the school for a year and a half. In 2020, the school extended its programme to include the Silver Swans Ballet classes, with Jemima becoming a licensee of the Silver Swans franchise.
The Barnes branch, initially The Barnes Ballet School, began in 1998 under Nicola Lister at St Michael's Church Hall, Barnes. Nicola dedicated 25 years to fostering a love for dance among her students before stepping down in July 2023. Jemima, working with the school since September 2021, will now manage the Saturday classes under The Rose School of Ballet banner from September 2023.
Classes follow the Royal Academy of Dance examination system, recognised internationally. Children aged 3 and older are encouraged to join, discovering the joy of movement while building confidence, co-ordination, and self-discipline. The school's staff are qualified and DBS checked, ensuring a secure and professional environment.
Jemima is also proud to act as an RAD mentor for future teachers since 2021. As part of this programme, RAD students in their 2nd and 3rd years can gain teaching experience through placements at The Rose School of Ballet.
Operating on a 10-12 week term basis with half-term breaks aligning with the academic year, parents can enrol their children at any time during the term with a first trial class costing just £5. Parents watching week is held at the end of the Autumn and Summer terms.
In addition to children's classes, the Silver Swans Ballet programme for adults aged 55 and over offers a fun and engaging way to stay active, whether you are new to dance or revisiting it. Developed by the RAD, the programme is based on research into dance practice for older learners.
Jemima and The Rose School of Ballet are committed to delivering top-quality ballet education to students of all ages. Whether you are a young child exploring ballet for the first time or an adult rekindling your love for dance, The Rose School of Ballet welcomes you to join them in fostering a lifelong appreciation for ballet.
