Welcome to The Pole Shed Ltd, a top fitness centre located in Ely, New Zealand. Established by its founder, Emma, our centre offers a diverse range of classes and workshops including aerial sports, aero dance, ballet, dance, gymnastics, personal training, tutoring, and yoga. Our mission is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for individuals of all ages and fitness levels to discover the joy and benefits of these activities.
The story of The Pole Shed began with a chance encounter. Emma, while searching for a new class for her children, stumbled upon pole fitness and instantly fell in love. This newfound passion led her to become a certified instructor, starting with private lessons and eventually expanding to group classes at Chequer Studio in Ely. However, the search for a space more suitable for all types of aerial classes proved challenging as several properties fell through.
When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, Emma quickly adapted, moving all classes online and renting poles to ensure continuity. Despite the challenges, this period allowed The Pole Shed community to come together, supporting and training each other through lockdown. The dedication paid off during the second lockdown when a larger shed at Oak Lane became available, and The Pole Shed was finally able to establish its physical location. Since then, The Pole Shed has flourished, offering a wide variety of classes taught by a fantastic team of instructors.
At The Pole Shed, we believe that aerial classes offer more than just physical fitness. They teach us to appreciate our bodies for what they can do rather than how they look, empowering individuals to embrace their strengths and conquer their fears. Our classes provide a space where everyone feels welcome, supported, and encouraged to learn new skills and achieve their personal fitness goals. We take pride in the strong sense of community that has developed within our studio, creating a family-like atmosphere.
