The Pilates Space is a cosy and welcoming studio located in Sidcup, New Zealand. It is owned and operated by Annaliese and Bryony, two sisters who are passionate about helping their clients improve their functional fitness. With years of training and experience, they have created a space where clients can receive individual attention and effective fitness tuition.
Annaliese and Bryony understand the challenges of balancing work and family commitments, as they are both mothers themselves. They believe that having a physically strong and fit body can make life much easier. They do not believe in punishing fitness regimes, but rather encourage their clients to attend classes consistently throughout the year to develop a strong and healthy body for life.
Both Annaliese and Bryony have a wealth of experience in various areas, including osteoporosis, back care, post-operative rehabilitation for backs and hips, and post and antenatal Pilates teaching. They have also worked with triathletes and sportsmen and women to improve technique and reduce the impact of demanding sporting endeavours on their bodies. Bryony is also a qualified sports massage therapist.
The Pilates Space believes that Pilates is a lifelong commitment, and they are dedicated to helping their clients achieve their goals. They offer classes tailored to individual needs and goals, ensuring that each client receives the best possible results. They will advise you on which class is best suited for your goals and abilities.
Pilates is often referred to as the “thinking person's” exercise, and The Pilates Space emphasises the importance of investing in the technique and applying it to daily life. While Pilates is known for developing core strength, Annaliese and Bryony take a holistic approach to the body, focusing on posture, feet, and alignment to improve overall movement and use of the abdominals.
The Pilates Space does not make promises of overnight results, as improvement takes time and dedication. They believe that permanent change requires a commitment to Pilates as a lifelong learning journey. They encourage their clients to attend classes every week, rain or shine, to reap the benefits of Pilates and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
At The Pilates Space, client health and wellbeing are the top priorities. The studio offers classes designed to manage back pain, improve sporting performance, enhance mobility, regain pre-baby fitness, or offset the effects of a desk-bound job. The teaching staff at The Pilates Space is highly qualified and passionate about their craft. They bring their own unique approaches and interests into their classes, ensuring a diverse and enriching experience for all clients.
In addition to fitness, The Pilates Space recognises the importance of the mind-body connexion. They offer regular courses in mindfulness and meditation, as well as self-care workshops using essential oils. The studio aims to provide anything that their clients may need, often inviting guest practitioners to share their expertise and learn alongside their clients.
The Pilates Space has a comprehensive class timetable catering to different needs and preferences. From 50+ Pilates classes with a focus on balance and bone density building to beginner classes, they have options for everyone. Private 1:1 sessions are also available by appointment.
