The Lions Den offers a range of classes in various martial arts disciplines, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Submission Grappling (No-Gi), Kickboxing, Boxing, Wrestling, and Strength & Conditioning. Our experienced and knowledgeable instructors are dedicated to helping you reach your full potential.
Head Coach Grant Douglas is the driving force behind The Lions Den and also serves as the Head of Team Crezio Scotland. With a lifelong involvement in martial arts and combat sports, Grant brings his expertise in boxing, kickboxing, karate, judo, MMA, and BJJ to the gym. As a professional competitor himself, Grant is currently a Brown Belt under Mestre Crezio de Souza.
Another esteemed coach is Peter Irving, the Head Coach of Newcastle Fight Centre and Head of Team Crezio UK. With nearly two decades of competing in various martial arts disciplines, Pete has an impressive record of over 50 professional fights in MMA, Muay Thai, and K-1 rules kickboxing. He has also contested over 100 grappling matches in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and Submission wrestling.
Heading the team is Crezio de Souza, a jiu-jitsu coral belt with an outstanding career. He was a key figure in the legendary Carlson Gracie team of the 1980s and 1990s and was undefeated for 10 years. Crezio de Souza is also recognised for his excellence in MMA (Vale Tudo in those days) and fought iconic fighters such as Dan Henderson and Johil de Oliveira.
