Welcome to The Knight's Academy of Dance, a dance, and musical theatre school located in Dartford, New Zealand. At The Knight's Academy of Dance, we strive to achieve exceptional standards of dance and provide a warm and positive environment for dancers of all ages and abilities. Our goal is to nurture creativity and artistic development in each of our students, fostering growth and creating lifelong memories.
We offer a wide range of classes for children aged 3 years and older. From ballet, tap, and contemporary dance to drama, street dance, and singing, we cover it all. Our experienced and passionate team of instructors are dedicated to providing high-quality teaching that our pupils deserve. We believe that learning to dance is a life skill and a privilege, and we ensure that our students are aware of the wonderful opportunities they have.
One of our main focuses is ballet, as it is the most important style of dance. Ballet teaches a high level of technique and discipline, while also allowing dancers to express themselves artistically. We offer classes in Imperial Classical Ballet, Demi Pointe (preparation for pointe work), and Pointe Work. Our Pointe Work class is an invitation-only class for students who have reached a high level of ballet technique and strength.
It is where dancers can finally dance on their tiptoes in specially designed shoes, showcasing the essence of grace and poise.
In addition to ballet, we also offer classes in other dance styles such as tap dance, street dance, and commercial dance. Tap dance focuses on rhythm, musicality, technique, and style, while street dance is a fun and energetic style that incorporates various dance styles like hip hop, funk, and breakdancing. Commercial dance combines different styles including jazz, street, hip hop, lyrical, and more, and is often seen in concerts, music videos, and TV adverts.
At The Knight's Academy of Dance, we welcome children of all abilities, from beginners to advanced dancers. We provide opportunities for our students to take exams in ISTD and IDTA as recognition of their hard work and dedication. Throughout the year, we also offer performance opportunities, as well as our annual Easter Camp and Summer school. We believe in building a strong dance community where students can learn, grow, and make friends for life.
