The Eastbourne Bridge Club is a welcoming and friendly club located in Eastbourne, New Zealand. The club is fully accessible, with a chair lift in place for those who require assistance. We invite both new members and visitors to join us for face-to-face bridge games.
For those interested in playing face-to-face bridge, we have several sessions available throughout the week. On Monday evenings at 7. 00, Tuesday afternoons at 1. 30 (Simple Systems), Wednesday mornings at 10.
15 (ACOL only), Wednesday afternoons at 1. 30, and Saturday afternoons at 1. 30, players can gather for games. Additionally, on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month, we will be running Swiss Pairs at 1.
30 (names in advance required). All afternoon and morning sessions, except for Swiss Pairs, are hosted, and players are advised to be in their seats at least 15 minutes before the start time to allow for the movement to be set.
To ensure the health and well-being of our members, we have certain conditions in place. Anyone displaying symptoms of a cold or flu should stay away, and upon arrival, hand sanitiser will be available for use. Subscriptions for the club can be paid online, and visitors are required to pay 5 per session and report to the director upon arrival.
In addition to face-to-face games, we also welcome visitors to join our online bridge games. There is no subscription required for online games, and our online competitions take place on Friday evenings at 7. 00 using Bridge Base Online (BBO). The table money for each game is $3 for an 18-board game.
We also share this session with Seaford Bridge Club on the first, third, and fifth Fridays of the month. If you wish to participate in our online duplicates, please contact Roger Poulter with your BBO name and EBU number.
For those who are attending classes at the club or wish to improve their play, we offer supervised bridge sessions on Mondays at 10. These sessions are open to all, including members, non-members, and those who are out of practise or looking to enhance their skills. Each session lasts for 2 hours and costs 6, with vouchers available for purchase on the day. The sessions begin with a short presentation and discussion on bidding, followed by playing boards with assistance from experienced players.
