The Dance Studio

Gillian Wright would like to welcome everyone to The Dance Studio, a leading dance school in Tunbridge Wells, Otford, and Paddock Wood. Established in 1985 by Principal Marianne Faulkner, the school now has over 300 pupils and continues to provide quality dance education for all ages and levels.

The Dance Studio offers a range of classes for everyone, from beginners to advanced dancers. Whether it's for fun or with the aim of a professional career, there’s a class to suit everyone's needs. The dedicated and experienced teachers are passionate about sharing their love for dance and helping each student reach their full potential.

A key highlight at The Dance Studio is the variety of performance opportunities. Students can showcase their skills on stage at local theatres and special events like Alton Towers and Disneyland Paris. Examinations with the National Association of Teachers of Dance (NATD) give students the chance to earn formal recognition for their achievements.

Many students, past and present, have pursued their dreams at prestigious institutions such as Italia Conti London, Laban Centre London, The BRIT School, Sylvia Young Theatre School, Reynolds Performing Arts, and RADA. The school has a proven track record of nurturing talent and preparing individuals for the professional world of performing arts.

Gillian Wright is thrilled to share the latest news and achievements. Jack from TDS Otford will make his West End debut in Matilda this September. The team is incredibly proud and excited to support him. The competition team dancers recently participated in the NATD London scholarship heats with excellent results. Lottie, Isobel, and Polly have qualified for the finals in Birmingham, showcasing their incredible dedication and skills.

Preparations are underway for Showtime 2023, a highly anticipated event at The Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th November. Dancers will bring magic to the stage and showcase their talents. The competition team also achieved great success at the Sevenoaks Dance Festival in April and is preparing for upcoming competitions and another performance at Alton Towers.

To support students' progress, The Dance Studio provides online content, including dance tutorials and exam practice videos available on the resources page. Soon, show routines will be added to the online content, enabling dancers to practise anytime, anywhere.
