About
The Creative Dance Company in Cranbrook has been a cherished institution in the dance community for over 22 years. Founded by Valerie McDonald FRSA in July 2000 and now thriving under the guidance of Hannah Carter, the school has become a staple in the local performing arts scene.
Hannah Carter, along with a team of seasoned instructors—including performers and choreographers from the West End and beyond—runs a variety of dance and musical theatre classes for children at The John Leakey Hall, The Dulwich School in Cranbrook. Each week, the school welcomes over 80 children, fostering their passion for dance in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Over the years, The Creative Dance Company has seen many students achieve great success, with some earning full scholarships to prestigious Performing Arts Colleges in London. A number of students have gone on to perform in well-known West End productions such as Oliver, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Carmen, Cats, and Mathew Bourne's Swan Lake & Nutcracker.
Students have also showcased their talents at various events, including MSC Lirica, Disneyland Paris, ITV's 'Come Dine with Me', and the 'Xtra Factor'. The school’s choirs have excelled in competitions, notably being named Youth Choir of the Year in 2012 and 2013 at the Cranbrook, Croydon, and Hastings Festivals.
Hannah’s aim is to provide not just performance opportunities, but a strong foundation in dance for all students, ensuring they develop their skills for the future. The focus remains on personal growth, challenging students, and offering platforms to perform.
