Welcome to The Anchormen, a UK registered charity based in Elland, Halifax, West Yorkshire. With a rich history dating back to 1904, The Anchormen started as a successful marching band and has since evolved to primarily focus on dance classes for young children. Our home is a former Wesley Methodist Church and the Savage Hall, where we also accommodate other organisations that promote education to local children. Each week, we welcome over 100 young children and adults to our facility.
Our dance classes in Elland are divided into three successful teams. The Beginners Class caters to children aged 6 and above, and takes place on Wednesdays from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. We also have the Cadets team for children aged 6-11, which rehearses on Tuesdays from 6:25pm to 7:25pm. Lastly, our Juniors team is for children aged 10-16, with rehearsals on Tuesdays from 7:35pm to 9:00pm.
We offer a free first dance class, allowing children to experience our classes before committing. Simply complete the form provided, and we will arrange for you to visit and have a look. We look forward to meeting you!
Stay updated with the latest news and updates from our Anchormen family. From great nights of celebrations to our success at dance competitions, we share our achievements and moments of joy with you. At The Anchormen, we offer dance classes for boys and girls of all ages between 6 and 25. We train at the Savage Hall, conveniently located in Elland, next door to Morrisons pedestrian entrance. Joining our dance classes does not require any prior experience. We have age-specific teams, including the Cadets (6-11-year-olds), Juniors (10-16-year-olds), and the A Team (14–21 years old).
In our classes, members learn how to dance, use flags, and other colourguard equipment. We perform choreographed routines with different equipment to enhance and interpret the music of our shows.

Here's what some of our parents have to say about us: “My daughter has been a member of this team for 3 years, and she has grown in confidence and learned lots of new skills.
