About

London Children's Ballet, a contemporary dance club in London, is thrilled to announce their upcoming event, The Production. This annual extravaganza brings beloved children's stories to life through the captivating art of ballet. Each year, LCB meticulously crafts a unique and enthralling narrative filled with laughter, drama, and excitement, perfect for the whole family to enjoy.

What sets The Production apart is LCB's commitment to excellence. They collaborate with an emerging composer to create a breathtaking “full-evening” narrative score, while an up-and-coming choreographer breathes life into the ballet with their creative vision. Working alongside talented costume and set designers, LCB brings the story to life on the prestigious stage of the West End's Peacock Theatre, captivating sell-out audiences over a week-long run.

LCB takes pride in nurturing the incredible talent of their young dancers. The LCB Company consists of exceptionally gifted individuals aged 9-14 (boys aged 9-16), chosen through competitive auditions held annually. Importantly, this 4-month rehearsal and performance experience is entirely free, allowing talent to shine without financial barriers. LCB celebrates diversity by welcoming dancers from all economic, social, and ethnic backgrounds, united by their unwavering passion for ballet. The selection process not only considers technical prowess but also seeks that intangible quality that makes a dancer truly mesmerising to watch, regardless of their body type.

Rehearsals for LCB dancers take place on Sunday afternoons from January to April, with an intensive period of daily rehearsals during the Easter holidays. Over the course of their journey, these dedicated young dancers receive over 100 hours of expert ballet tuition and invaluable performance experience, all free of charge.

Beyond showcasing their breathtaking performances, LCB is deeply committed to making ballet accessible to all. With a range of outreach initiatives, LCB positively impacts over 3,000 individuals annually through programs, workshops, tour performances, and classes. One of their standout endeavours is Ballet for £1, a program that provides free tickets to disadvantaged and isolated children and adults, followed by complimentary ballet workshops for participating schools. LCB proudly partners with Artsmark, and their Ballet for £1 initiative supports Arts Awards. Additionally, their touring company brings condensed versions of their productions to care homes, special needs schools, and various communities. In disadvantaged areas, LCB runs Dance Inspire, a program offering weekly free ballet classes in primary schools.

LCB also offers incredible training opportunities for children aged 9-16. They organise two summer schools, one for children aged 9-12 and another tailored specifically for girls aged 13-16, focusing on performance skills. To support young male dancers, LCB provides boys-only ballet classes led by professional male ballet dancers. Finally, LCB hosts a yearly masterclass on audition technique and performance, guided by a top professional ballet dancer. This empowering experience is designed specifically for children who audition for LCB but are unsuccessful, providing valuable insights and encouragement.

Don't miss out on the enchantment and wonder of LCB's upcoming event, The Production. Join us as we witness the magic of ballet, brought to life by these exceptional young dancers. Come and be captivated by their talent, dedication, and passion for this timeless art form.
