Established in 1982, the Western Suburbs Combine Club for Track and Field Competition brought together officials from renowned athletics clubs like Altona, Sunshine, and Werribee. Their remarkable victory in the 'B' grade at Aberfeldie gave them the opportunity to compete in the prestigious 'A' Reserve competition.
Recognising the need for inclusivity and exceptional performance, a women's team was formed in 1993/94, earning themselves a well-deserved entry into 'A' grade. Realising the potential and the challenges faced by athletics in the Western Suburbs, the Footscray, Sunshine, and Werribee Clubs joined forces in 1995, laying the foundation for Western Athletics Incorporated.
Since then, Western Athletics has been a force to be reckoned with in the world of track and field.
