Terrigal Trotters, the local running and walking club established in 1983, is excited to promote their upcoming Half Marathon Run event in Central Coast. Known for their inclusive and enthusiastic community, the club welcomes runners and walkers of all abilities to join in on the action.
Every Saturday morning, rain or shine, members gather at the car park and Surf Club on Terrigal Esplanade to embark on their runs and walks. It doesn't matter if you're already fit or just starting out, as long as you're eager to participate.
Becoming a member of Terrigal Trotters is as easy as showing up before 5:55 am on a Saturday and paying the nominal $2 weekly run fee. After completing 10 runs or walks, you'll officially become a part of the club and receive a joining certificate during the last Saturday of the month.
Your $2 fee covers various expenses that ensure everyone has a great time, such as drinks at the end of the run, delightful cakes after time trials, subsidised buses to running events, insurance, storage, the much-anticipated Christmas party, barbecues, and engaging trail runs.
Every Saturday, the club organises official runs with distances ranging from 10 to 18 kilometres, providing a challenge for those seeking to push their limits. However, there are also options available for shorter distances, catering to varying fitness levels and goals.
On the last Saturday of each month, participants can take part in a time trial over a 10-kilometer or 5-kilometer course, enabling them to track their progress and benchmark their performance. With over 150 runners and walkers gathering each Saturday, you're sure to find a group that suits your pace and style.
Terrigal Trotters boasts a dedicated Committee, comprising passionate volunteers, who meet monthly to address any queries or concerns raised by members. Furthermore, an Annual General Meeting is held each year, where eligible members can exercise their voting rights to elect the new Committee.
To enhance communication among members, the club maintains an active Facebook page, allowing everyone to connect and discuss matters related to running. It's an excellent platform to share tips, arrange meet-ups, and celebrate each other's achievements.
Throughout the year, Terrigal Trotters actively raises funds for charity through various initiatives. This not only strengthens the bonds between members but also reinforces the club's commitment to supporting the community.
The club holds several annual awards, including Club Person, Male Athlete, Female Athlete, and Trotter of the Year. These awards reflect the spirit and contributions of individuals within the club and are voted for by members. Categories such as the Super 7 Series, Time Trial Aggregate, Ultra Championship, Debut Marathon, Debut Half Marathon, and Mick Miles Award recognise achievements based on results.
Terrigal Trotters is thrilled to invite all running and walking enthusiasts to join their Half Marathon Run event. Whether you're a seasoned marathoner or just starting your fitness journey, this event promises a fantastic experience and an opportunity to connect with a vibrant community. So lace up your running shoes and get ready to join the Terrigal Trotters on an exhilarating run!
