Te Ra Charters Ltd, based in Whangamata, offers an exceptional fishing experience in the Eastern Coromandel / Bay of Plenty region. The charter company operates a 45-foot launch, named Te Ra, which is available for both casual trips and group charters.
Te Ra is equipped with full facilities and can accommodate up to 20 passengers. For overnight trips, the vessel offers sleeping arrangements for up to eight people. Divers are also welcome on board, with racks available for 30 bottles. Additionally, Te Ra boasts a large live bait tank of 600 litres and insulated fish storage.
The experienced skipper of Te Ra Charters is Chris Jones, who has dedicated 35 years to the industry and possesses a wealth of knowledge regarding the best fishing spots in the area. With Chris at the helm, guests are ensured a memorable day filled with excitement and plenty of fish.
Te Ra Charters prioritises the safety of its passengers and adheres to Safe Ship Management regulations, providing a secure fishing environment. The company also offers hire rods for a fee of $10 per day, including tackle. To ensure guests are comfortable throughout the trip, complimentary coffee and tea are available at any time.
Te Ra Charters operates regular fishing trips on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the year. Wednesday trips run from 10. 00am to 3. 00pm, while Friday trips start at 3.
30pm and conclude at 8. 30pm. During summer, from December 26th to January 31st, Te Ra Charters offers two fishing trips daily, from 8am to 2pm and from 3pm to 8. 30pm.
In winter, the Friday timetable shifts to 2. 00pm to 8. 00pm, starting at the end of daylight savings.
In terms of pricing, Te Ra Charters offers various options to suit different needs. Chartering the entire boat costs $900, while overnight trips for a maximum of eight people are available for $1800. For local fishing trips, adults are charged $70 and children (aged 13 and under) are charged $50.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own bait, lunch, hat, warm jacket, sunblock, and fishing tackle if they have it. Additionally, bringing ice for storing the catch is recommended.
