Tennis Xpress, hosted by Albany Tennis Park, is an exciting fitness event specially designed for beginners who are interested in learning how to play tennis. This program aims to break down any barriers that may be hindering adults from getting started with the sport, while ensuring a fun and successful learning experience.
Using lower pressure balls, flexible court sizes, simple scoring, and easy-to-understand technical teaching, Tennis Xpress creates an environment that fosters confidence, skill development, and enjoyment. Participants will be guided through the basics of tennis, including scoring, groundstrokes, volley, serve, and tactics for both singles and doubles play.
Whether you are learning for yourself or with the intention of playing alongside your child, this course will equip you with the necessary skills to compete effectively and engage in thrilling rallies. Recent studies have shown that using slower balls can reduce errors, promote longer rallies, and facilitate the implementation of tactical strategies.
Tennis Xpress sessions take place during school terms, with a 1.25 hour lesson scheduled each week. Enrolment is available on a term-by-term basis, ensuring flexibility for participants. Term dates for 2020 are as follows: Term 1: January 30th to April 14th, Term 2: April 29th to July 7th, Term 3: July 22nd to September 29th, Term 4: October 14th to December 15th.
At Albany Tennis Park, Tennis Xpress sessions are available on Monday and Tuesday mornings and evenings, as well as Wednesday to Saturday. The cost for each class is $31.50, payable in advance and must be booked for the entire term. Please note that casual classes are not offered. To ensure convenience, online enrolment is also available.
For those located near Forrest Hill Tennis Centre, you can also participate in Tennis Xpress on Monday and Thursday evenings. The cost for each class at this location is $28.00, and the same booking requirements apply as with the Albany Tennis Park sessions. In the event of rain within two hours of the scheduled time, sessions will be canceled.
