Dave here, your local organiser at Temple Basin Ski Area. Temple Basin has been a gem since 1929 and remains one of New Zealand's oldest club run ski areas. Nestled in Arthur's Pass Village on the Main Divide of the Southern Alps, this place is the hub for extreme skiing and snowboarding in Aotearoa.

What makes Temple Basin so special is its remote setting. As you arrive, you'll feel the pressures of daily life ease away while you get lost in the alpine environment. It's perfect for disconnecting from the outside world and soaking up some stunning nature.

We’ve got ski in ski out accommodation right next to the Temple Tow, so after shredding the slopes, you can unwind and indulge in some aprs-ski without worrying about how to get home.

The panoramic views here are something else – you'll be surrounded by incredible mountain vistas. There's skiable terrain in almost every direction, meaning heaps of opportunities for exploring and adventure.

Besides the wicked skiing and snowboarding, Temple Basin also hosts the New Zealand Snow Safety Institute (NZSSI). They offer courses for riders, hikers, and mountaineers, covering everything you need to know for enjoying alpine terrain. Whether you're just starting out or you're a seasoned pro, you'll pick up some solid skills and knowledge.
