Teach Me 2 Dance

Teach Me 2 Dance is a renowned dance school located in Sherfield-on-Loddon, New Zealand. With a rich history spanning 26 years, the school has provided dance classes to thousands of individuals who were eager to learn and have fun. What initially started as a hobby quickly turned into a full-time endeavour for the founder, Jane Ford.

Jane, along with her late husband Dave, began their dance journey by attending weekly dance lessons in 1996. Their first experience was in Rock 'n' Roll under the expert guidance of Bill Heron. The couple soon realised their love for dancing transcended a single style and went on to learn Argentine Tango, Ballroom & Latin, and even dabbled in Lindy Hop and Salsa. Their passion and expertise led them to take over a Rock 'n' Roll club in Hayes in 1997 and later entered into a partnership with Bill, establishing BJ's.

Over the years, BJ's became widely recognised as a top dance school, offering classes in Jive, Latin, and Ballroom across various locations such as Maidenhead, Bracknell, Reading, and Sherfield. With their extensive dance background, Jane and Dave introduced Wedding First Dances, helping numerous couples create magical moments on their special day.

In 2009, Jane and Dave decided to revitalise their classes, giving them a new name and a fresh feel while maintaining their commitment to providing solid dance education in an enjoyable environment. They conducted a survey to gather input from past and present class members, incorporating their ideas into the current class format. Tragically, Dave passed away in October 2010, leaving behind countless cherished memories for Jane and the countless individuals who had learned to dance with them.

In 2013, Jane acquired her certification as a FitSteps Instructor, adding another dimension to the already well-established classes. She became one of the pioneering instructors of this fantastic dance programme. Additionally, Jane created her own Strictly Dancercise classes, infusing elements from the Ballroom and Latin world to provide a unique dance experience for her students.

The COVID-19 pandemic posed significant challenges for the dance school in early 2020, as social distancing measures made it almost impossible to conduct public classes. As a result, Teach Me 2 Dance shifted to offering a limited number of private lessons. However, Jane has decided to embark on a new adventure and explore her passion for teaching beginners on their computers through her other venture, the PC Fairy.

Even though Jane is bidding farewell to the dance school, she remains deeply grateful to all the students and friends she has made along the way.
