Taumarunui Golf Club, located right here in Taumarunui, New Zealand, is a spot for both locals and visitors to enjoy a round of golf. The club’s well-kept fairways and scenic course offer a good challenge for golfers at all levels.

Peter is excited about the upcoming events at the club. First up is the Heaps Tournament on Sunday, 28th January. Following that, the 35th Senior Golfers Strokeplay Tournament, sponsored by Property Brokers, will run from Wednesday, 31st January to Friday, 2nd February 2024. These events are a great opportunity for golfers to show their skills and engage in some friendly competition.

The club keeps everyone in the loop with regular updates on various competitions and events. Recently, a ladies' competition day took place, bringing a mix of hot and rainy weather but plenty of good spirits. Results and updates are always available on the club’s website and their social media pages.

Peter also highlights the club’s involvement in charitable activities. They support the Longest Day Golf Challenge organised by the Cancer Society. This fundraiser challenges participants to play 72 holes in one day, all for a good cause. Members are encouraged to join in and make a difference.

The course itself features some interesting holes. Hole 1, “The Gap,” is a par 4 with an elevated tee and bunkers surrounding the green. Hole 2, “The Ridge,” has a fairway drop toward the green, guarded by a bunker. Hole 3, “The Trap,” is a tricky right dog leg with a bunker that left-handers may find particularly challenging.

Other notable mentions include Hole 4, “The Drop,” with its elevated tee and water hazard, and Hole 5, “The Valley,” offering a gentle uphill rise to a two-tiered green. Hole 6, “Ngauruhoe,” presents a blind shot from the men’s tee with hazards on both sides, and Hole 7, “Lookout,” is a straightforward par 3 with a tricky green flanked by a steep-lipped bunker.
