Tairyoku Shotokan Karate Club (TSKC) is a renowned karate school located in Buckingham, New Zealand. Founded on 18th September 1999 by Sensei Lester Wellington, the club started out at its Bierton Dojo. With a strong focus on training and achieving black belts, TSKC has produced numerous successful students who have become part of the JKA England Squad.
At TSKC, the instructors are highly qualified and approved by the EKF (English Karate Federation). They are also trained in First Aid and hold DBS enhanced certification, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students. The club has six regular dojo's across Buckinghamshire, extending into Oxfordshire, providing convenient training locations for students.
TSKC welcomes students of all ages, starting from 7 years old. Whether you are a complete novice or an experienced karateka, male or female, or even a martial artist from another association or style, you are encouraged to join the club and start your karate journey.
New members are always welcome at TSKC, with a “rolling” agenda that allows for flexible entry at any time. The club offers a complimentary first lesson to individuals who are interested in trying karate. Prior to attending the first class, it is requested that new students fill out the online registration form to save time upon arrival at the dojo.
In addition to regular training, TSKC offers private lessons individually or in small groups of up to four people. These lessons help students catch up on any missed training and contribute towards their grading requirements. Private lessons are an opportunity to improve techniques and refine kata details under the guidance of Chief Instructor Lester Wellington.
TSKC organises KYU Gradings throughout the year, with confirmed dates for 2024 already booked. Gradings are important milestones for students to demonstrate their progress and receive recognition for their efforts. The club congratulates all students who participated in recent gradings and commends their dedication and positive attitude towards their training.
The name “Tairyoku” embodies the philosophy of the club, meaning “with the strength of one's body” in Japanese. It reflects the focus on developing physical and mental power through karate training. Since its establishment, TSKC has grown to include nine regular dojo's, including two school dojo's, spread across Buckinghamshire and extending into Oxfordshire.
Tairyoku Shotokan Karate Club (TSKC) is an inclusive and thriving karate school dedicated to helping students of all ages and abilities achieve their fullest potential in the art of karate.
