Chi forms. Renae Covey, the owner and instructor, is dedicated to sharing her passion and knowledge of Tai Chi in Mackay. Tai Chi is an ancient practise that combines slow, deliberate movements, meditation, and breathing exercises. It is not a fast-paced, fat-burning workout, but rather a practise that focuses on improving blood circulation, alignment, and balance to restore your energy.
The benefits of practising Tai Chi are numerous. It can help decrease stress, anxiety, and depression, improve mood, increase aerobic capacity, boost energy and stamina, enhance flexibility, balance, and agility, and improve muscle strength and definition. It is also effective in falls prevention, making it suitable for people of all ages.
Tai Chi for Health with Renae Covey offers sessions throughout the week. On Mondays, classes are held at 10:30 am. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, classes start at 9:00 am. Thursdays offer two sessions, at 9:15 am and 10:15 am.
On Friday and Saturday, classes are held at 7:15 am and 7:45 am respectively.
Students at Tai Chi for Health have shared their experiences and the positive impact Tai Chi has had on their lives. Renae Covey, the owner and instructor of Tai Chi for Health, is a certified instructor accredited through The Tai Chi Institute: Dr. Paul Lam. Dr. Lam is known for promoting the health benefits of Tai Chi.
Renae's passion for health, wellness, mental stability, and overall well-being drove her to become an instructor after a severe health scare. Inspired by her mother's rehab regime, which involved Tai Chi, Renae made a total career change from school teaching and Head of Department in The Arts.
Renae believes that Tai Chi is suitable for all ages and emphasises the importance of unblocking blocked meridians to reduce stress on both the mind and body. Her motto during her Tai Chi classes is to stay safe and strong while using energy with stillness and calmness.
