It's an opportunity to connect with yourself, improve your physical and mental well-being, and learn valuable martial arts skills.
At Chans Martial Arts, kindness, humility, and respect are at the forefront of our values. Instructors and more experienced students share their skills and knowledge with the utmost care and dedication, while less experienced students contribute to the learning environment. It is customary to show respect by bowing to the instructors upon arrival, at the beginning of class, and at the end.
Tai Chi Chuan has a rich lineage, originating from ancient martial artists such as Zhang Sanfeng and further developed by Yang Lu Chan. Our style of Tai Chi Chuan comes from the esteemed Professor Cheng Man Ching, who passed it on to Professor Huang Sheng Shyan. Under the guidance of our Chief Instructor, Michael Yek, and Founder, Professor Yek Sing Ong, your Laoshi has been trained directly or indirectly by Chan Laoshi and has achieved Instructor level.
In our syllabus, we cover a range of exercises and forms, including relaxation exercises, the 42-step combined form, pushing hands, Yang long form, straight sword form, and much more. We offer a comprehensive and well-rounded training experience that will challenge and enrich you.
