Tadley Shotokan Karate Club

The Tadley Shotokan Karate Club, located in Tadley, New Zealand, is a renowned karate school dedicated to teaching and promoting the art of Shotokan Karate. The club is affiliated with the Traditional International Shotokan Karate Association (TISKA), founded by Chief Instructor Gursharan Sahota in 1993. TISKA is one of the largest karate associations in the UK and provides a comprehensive training programme from novice to black belt level. To assist beginners, Tadley Shotokan Karate Club offers an app called TISKA App, specifically designed to guide complete beginners in their journey to Black Belt (Shodan).

Chief Instructor Gursharan Sahota's extensive background in karate, including national and international level competitions, demonstrates his passion and dedication to the art. However, his most transformative experience was training in a Japanese dojo under the esteemed Sensei Hirokazu Kanazawa in 1984. This experience cemented Sahota's commitment to karate as a way of life and inspired him to establish his own karate club.

Gursharan Sahota opened his first club in Luton/Dunstable in 1981, which now serves as TISKA's headquarters. With over 35 classes taught per week in the UK and regular international master classes, Gursharan has mentored countless students, guiding them to achieve black belt status and beyond. Additionally, Sahota actively engages in charitable endeavours, supporting initiatives such as funding trips for surgeons to operate on underprivileged children in third world countries and funding projects in India, including the construction of a new school.
