Hello Sports Community,

Tim, the organiser of Sylvia Dobson School of Dance, has a quick update for everyone. Sylvia Dobson School of Dance, located in Rowlands Gill, is here to help dancers of all levels achieve their best. Tim believes in nurturing creativity in a friendly environment where dancers can grow and thrive.

For the little ones, there's Jitterbugs Baby Dance Classes for ages 8 months to 4½ years. These classes mix singing, dancing, and movement to popular children’s songs and nursery rhymes. Kids can also explore tunnels, gym mats, trampets, pom poms, balls, hoops, and instruments. Plus, there's a bit of singing with instruments and fresh fruit snacks for a fun, stimulating time.

Ballet, the foundation of dance, is offered from age 3. Following the IDTA syllabus, students can work their way through exams and perform in shows throughout the year.

Tim's team also offers Tap Dance from age 3, where kids can create rhythms with their tap shoes. Like ballet, tap follows the IDTA syllabus with exams and show performances.

For those into contemporary styles, there's Street Dance from age 6. Students learn new moves and take part in IDTA exams, with pieces performed in shows.

Lyrical Dance, a mix of Ballet and Contemporary, starts from age 7 and is all about exploring elegant movements. It’s more for fun and expression, with no exams, but it contributes to the shows.

On top of dance, there are British Gymnastics classes from age 5. These classes are mostly recreational, but kids can work through the British Gymnastics badge system.

Tim and his dedicated team aim to offer more than just dance classes. They create a space where dancers can grow both mentally and physically. With experienced instructors, students receive top instruction, whether they’re pursuing dance professionally or as a hobby.
