Sydney University Athletics Club (SUAC) is Australia's first and finest athletics club, founded in 1878. Throughout its rich history, SUAC has produced many athletes who have competed at club, national, Olympic, and Paralympic levels. SUAC welcomes individuals of all levels and abilities, providing them with opportunities to participate in athletics.
For the 2023-24 season, SUAC is open for registrations, and anyone interested can visit their Registration page to find out more. SUAC offers training for sprint, middle distance, and distance events at various locations such as Moore Park, Centennial Park, Homebush, and locations further west, year-round.
Additionally, SUAC offers a special programme called RUNSYDUNI for University of Sydney students and staff. This programme includes a free on-campus fun run, scheduled for May 10, 2023, and nine weeks of free training sessions starting from the beginning of semester one. RUNSYDUNI is a great opportunity for students and staff to engage in athletics and stay active.
In 2017, SUAC successfully launched the Target Tokyo programme with the goal of sending as many SUAC athletes as possible to the Tokyo Olympic Games. The programme included securing a European training base and providing elite competition opportunities. As a result, 12 SUAC athletes became Olympians in Tokyo, and another 23 represented Australia in the World Championships and Commonwealth Games in 2022 and 2023. This programme has now transitioned to Target Paris and continues to be a significant success.
To stay updated with the latest news, results, and upcoming social events, individuals are encouraged to follow SUAC on their social media platforms.
