At basketball. Sydney Basketball Institute (SBI) is a basketball club located in Lidcombe, NSW. With a strong focus on developing young athletes, SBI has been a pillar in the basketball community for many years.
Led by our Head Coach, Merve Tait, who has over 40 years of coaching experience, SBI offers a range of programmes designed to elevate players' skills, fitness, work ethic, and basketball IQ. Many athletes who have been a part of our programme have gone on to play in US and International Colleges, State Teams, State Programmes, and more. Our proven formula has given athletes incredible opportunities outside our programme.
One of our flagship programmes is the SBI Academy. This programme caters to youth and senior boys and girls from 8 to 14 years old and focuses on high-intensity training. With sessions held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, athletes have the opportunity to improve their skills and take their game to the next level. We also offer specific training for beginners, seniors looking to make rep programmes, and high-performance shooting classes.
In addition to our Academy, SBI organises and participates in various tournaments and tours. Our Asia Pacific Tournament, held annually in January, brings teams from both local and international locations together for a highly competitive event. The New Zealand Tour, taking place in October 2023, offers our Junior Academy athletes an unbelievable opportunity to play against high-level clubs and schools in New Zealand.
