Switch Up Community Hub is a dynamic and inclusive community centre, boxing club, and gym located in Mansfield, New Zealand. The centre aims to empower young people who find themselves outside mainstream education and provide them with the support and learning opportunities they need to achieve their full potential.
At Switch Up, the experienced team works closely with each individual, creating bespoke packages of support and learning tailored to their specific needs. The centre recognises the importance of mentoring in engaging young people effectively with education, and therefore incorporates mentoring in every support package.
Switch Up offers a range of educational services, including Functional Skills tuition in English and Maths levels 1 & 2, GCSE level tuition in English and Maths, a variety of ASDAN qualifications, and the full PSHE curriculum. The centre is committed to ensuring that young people leave with the qualifications and knowledge necessary for their future education or career endeavours.
In addition to educational support, Switch Up also provides guidance and assistance in employability skills. The employability team is dedicated to helping young people transition into adulthood and employment. Through their connexions with local businesses, they offer opportunities for apprenticeships, work placements, and jobs when young people are ready to take that next step.
Switch Up Community Hub values the power of sport in transforming young people's lives. They believe that through sport, mentoring, and personal development, they can improve the mental and physical well-being of young individuals and equip them with the skills, confidence, and motivation to realise their true potential.
The centre is part of the Marcellus Baz Group, founded by the inspirational Marcellus Baz BEM. This group includes both Switch Up and Nottingham School of Boxing. Their mission is to bring positive change to communities affected by crime and violence through individual support and engagement in positive activities.
Switch Up invites individuals who are passionate about making a difference to consider joining their team. They have various job vacancies available and offer life-changing roles to those who are committed to empowering young people and breaking the cycle of offending and reoffending.
At Switch Up Community Hub, young people are encouraged to find a brighter future through positive activities, mentorship, and the power of sport. They believe in the potential of every young individual and strive to provide the support and opportunities needed for them to succeed.
