Swing Patrol – Swing Central is a vibrant dance school located in Surry Hills, Sydney. They specialise in teaching and promoting the exhilarating dance styles of lindy hop and balboa, and provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for dancers of all levels and experience.

Every third Friday of the month, Swing Central hosts a lively social dancing event where dancers can come together and groove to the swinging jazz music played by their talented local DJs. This event is open to everyone, from beginners who are just starting their dance journey to experienced dancers looking to showcase their skills.

Swing Central takes pride in creating a safe and inclusive space for all dancers. They uphold the Swing Patrol Code of Conduct and expect all attendees to follow its guidelines, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and respected on the dance floor.

The evening begins with an all-levels class from 7:15pm to 8:00pm, providing an opportunity for dancers to learn new moves and techniques before the social dancing begins. The class fee of $20 includes entry to the social dancing event. For those who prefer to only join the social dancing, the entry fee is $15. Payment can be made at the door with card or cash.

Swing Central's venue, Vine Church Hall, is conveniently located on 196 Albion Street in Surry Hills. Its central location makes it easily accessible for dancers coming from different parts of the city.

Swing Patrol acknowledges and pays respect to the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which they gather and dance. They operate on the traditional lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, honouring their Elders, past, present, and emerging. The organisation recognises that the dances and music they cherish come from African American and Black culture, and aims to promote the history and roots of these dances in their teachings.

Classes at Swing Central will resume on Tuesday, February 6th, after the Christmas and New Year break. They offer a range of fun and friendly dance classes, teaching various styles including Lindy Hop, Blues, Charleston, Shag, and Balboa.
