Swingers Putt Putt, at The Landing 650 Lake Terrace in Taupō, has become the latest family-friendly activity, thanks to the efforts of organiser Jamie. This 18-hole mini golf course takes players through the central plateau, offering a glimpse into the geography and adventure tourism activities that Taupō is known for. As you putt around the course, you'll see miniatures of mountains, walkways, forests, power stations, rivers, and the town centre, all while learning interesting facts about the region.

Jamie has designed Swingers Putt Putt so that no golfing expertise is necessary. In fact, it’s often the kids or beginners who score first. The course, named Thirides Mini Golf, is full of surprises like dragons and steam fields. There are even unique holes where your ball can fall from a skydive plane or ride a magic carpet to the top of a ski field before rolling down the mountainside.

One of Jamie’s favourite aspects is the vibrant LED lights that come on at night, transforming your mini golf experience. After a fun-filled round, pop over to Mavericks Gastro Pub, which overlooks the course. Parents can let the kids keep playing while they enjoy a drink in the beer garden, always within easy sight of the young ones.

Each hole offers facts and trivia about Taupō and its attractions. Families can even answer quiz questions on their scorecard for a chance to win weekly prizes like vouchers for local tourism activities.

Jamie notes that Swingers Putt Putt’s hours vary with the seasons. In winter, the course is open Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 7 pm, and on Fridays to Sundays from 9 am to 8 pm.
