Swindon Smash Badminton Club

Swindon Smash Badminton Club is a junior badminton club located in Swindon, New Zealand. The club welcomes children between the ages of 7 and 18 years old and offers two sessions every Saturday afternoon from 12 noon to 3pm. The first session, from 12 noon to 1:15pm, is dedicated to junior beginners aged 7 to approximately 12 years old. The second session, from 1:30pm to 3pm, is for more advanced junior players.

The club currently has two youth teams that compete in the U13 and U16 Swindon district leagues. The club is proud of its achievements, with both the U13 and U16 teams winning their respective leagues in the 2022-23 season.

Swindon Smash Badminton Club is run by a dedicated committee of volunteers who generously give their time to help junior players learn and enjoy playing badminton. The committee includes Howard Patterson, a Level 2 Badminton Coach and retired Badminton England National Umpire, Jing Tian, the Club Secretary, Preeti Deshmukh and Jubu Abraham, both Level 1 Coaches, Gail Brooks, the Welfare Officer, and Joshy Maugustine, a volunteer. The club welcomes anyone who wishes to become a volunteer and help run the club, including those looking to complete their Duke of Edinburgh award.

The welfare officer for Swindon Smash Badminton Club is Mrs. Gail Brooks. Any junior member can speak to her at any time if they have any issues or concerns. The club is committed to safeguarding children and follows the guidelines set out by Badminton England, Wiltshire County Badminton Association, and Swindon & District Badminton Association.
