Paul founded Swimscool swimming school in Southport with a clear mission: to instil a love for swimming in all. His vision was straightforward—swimming is an essential life skill and a brilliant sport everyone should enjoy. Every lesson at Swimscool is designed to build water confidence and technique, all while maintaining a low teacher-to-pupil ratio for personalised instruction.
Swimscool began its journey in 1992 at Southport and Formby District General Hospital. Driven by his passion, Paul has since transformed it into Southport's leading swim school, welcoming over 10,000 swimmers. After a decade of renting pools, Paul took a bold step in 2001, building a state-of-the-art facility in Marshside, inaugurated by Olympic swimmer Nick Gillingham MBE.
Over the years, Swimscool has grown from a single 20-metre pool to a full-fledged health club, featuring a gym and a 25-metre pool. The focus remains on helping children maximise their potential, whether for safety, confidence, or competitive aspirations.
Paul, a Level 3 ASA qualified instructor, has led Swimscool to great heights. He is joined by his daughter Holly, a Swimscool alumna who has set British records and earned multiple medals. Tegan, another key team member, brings over 11 years of coaching experience and a knack for butterfly and freestyle strokes. Holly, also a manager, holds an ASA Level 2 qualification and has competed at the Commonwealth Games and World Championships.
With over 22 years of teaching expertise, Pippa ensures high-quality instruction for all. Swimscool’s comprehensive programme caters to all ages and abilities, blending experienced instructors, top-notch facilities, and confidence-driven techniques, making it the premier swimming school in Southport.
