Westerfolds caters to swimmers of all levels, from nervous beginners to mini squad groups. Their heated pool, maintained at a comfortable 33 degrees year-round, features four lanes, including a shallow end for young kids and a deep end for more advanced swimmers. So, no matter your age or skill level, there's a place for you at Westerfolds.
For the littlest swimmers aged 6 months and older, Westerfolds provides warm, light, and bright swimming lessons. These 30-minute lessons incorporate songs, toys, and activities to help babies and their carers feel comfortable in the water. The goal is to progress from water babies to independent swimmers.
Once your child turns 3 years old, they can join the preschool swim classes. These classes focus on building water confidence and teaching the necessary skills to move independently in the water. Jumping in, dog paddling, facial submersion, blowing bubbles, and back floats are just some skills taught in these engaging classes, which have a limit of 4 children per 30 minutes.
For school-aged children, Westerfolds offers after-school swim classes. These classes are designed to perfect the four main strokes – freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. In addition to stroke technique, students also learn important swim and survival skills, including clothed swims and rescue scenarios.
If your child has already mastered the four main strokes, there's an opportunity to join the accelerated swim classes. Led by experienced squad coaches, these classes focus on teaching butterfly, tumble turns, and racing formats, taking your child's swimming to the next level.
Classes are available 7 days a week, with morning and afternoon options. Preschool classes are offered on Sundays to Fridays until 12.30pm and Saturdays until 2.30pm. School-aged classes are available on Mondays to Fridays from 4pm, Saturdays until 2.30pm, and Sunday mornings. So, finding a convenient class time is a breeze.
When it comes to swimwear, children over 3 years old must wear swim caps during lessons. Goggles, bathers, a swimming cap, and a towel are also necessary. To stay warm in the water, Westerfolds recommends a tight-fitting rash vest for those who get easily cold, and girls should wear one-piece swimsuits.
