Surrey Choi Kwang Do

Surrey Choi Kwang Do is a renowned Martial arts and Self Defence School located in Woking, New Zealand. With over 30 years of martial arts excellence, the school is led by Senior Master Nigel Brophy, who has an extensive experience of over 47 years in training and teaching various martial arts disciplines.

Senior Master Brophy began his martial arts journey at the young age of 9 with Judo and continued his training in various disciplines throughout his time in the Army. After leaving the Army, he pursued a career as a Gym Instructor and gained his first qualification in 1988. In 1989, he discovered Choi Kwang Do, a new martial arts class that incorporated scientific principles such as yoga, biomechanics, and kinetics. Nigel was impressed by the correct instruction and scientific approach, and he commenced his training in Choi Kwang Do.

Within a year of training, Nigel was selected as an Assistant Instructor, and over the years, he has achieved the rank of a 6th Degree Black Belt, International Master Instructor / Examiner. He has also had the opportunity to teach and train in various countries including Argentina, Malaysia, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea, and the USA.

Surrey Choi Kwang Do offers a free trial class to individuals who are interested in experiencing this unique martial art style. All instructors at the school are DBS checked, ensuring the safety and well-being of the students. The school is a proud member of Nakmas and EFC.

Classes are conducted at two convenient locations. In Woking, classes take place on Saturdays from 1 PM to 3 PM and on Wednesdays from 6 PM to 8 PM. In Chessington, classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 PM to 9 PM.

The Woking location is situated at Barnsbury Primary School on Barnsbury Estate, Almond Ave, Woking. Chessington classes are conducted at Castle Hill Primary School on Buckland Rd, Chessington.
