Established in 1947 as Vickers Sports & Social Club, the name was changed to Supermarine Sports & Social Club in 1985, paying homage to the iconic Supermarine Spitfire built by Vickers Armstrong.

The club boasts regular competitive fixtures for both Men's and Women's bowling teams, participating in Club, District, and County leagues. In 2004, the club purchased its own green and clubhouse, with the support of its dedicated members and assistance from the English Bowling Association, now known as Bowls England. Subsequent renovations included the construction of new changing rooms, the expansion, and refurbishment of the kitchen, and the addition of full toilet facilities. The club is proud to provide ramp access to the clubhouse, ensuring inclusivity for disabled individuals.
