The club played a significant role in this endeavour, as sea trials for the racing yachts were held off the local waters. In 1977, Sun City Yacht Club became the official challenger for the Americas Cup, representing Australia in a thrilling four-race series against the American defender, Courageous, off Rhode Island, New York.
Since its establishment, Sun City Yacht Club has been dedicated to providing sailing and boating skills to generations of local residents. Additionally, the club serves as a venue for various social events in the northernmost suburbs of Wanneroo. The clubhouse, fondly known as the 'Tin Shed,' has recently undergone renovations and offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The club boasts a range of membership options, including Junior, Senior, Family, Social, and Associate Memberships for members of other sailing clubs. The highlight of the club's watersports activities is dinghy sailing, which takes place from October to April. Every Saturday morning from 9:00 am, members gather for regular racing and social sailing. Dinghy sailing is open to individuals of all ages, starting from 8 years old. Whether you are a seasoned sailor or a beginner, the club warmly welcomes everyone.

Members of the Sun City Yacht Club also have the opportunity to engage in keelboat sailing. The club owns a number of keelboats located in the nearby Two Rocks Marina, providing frequent opportunities for members and those who are curious about keelboat sailing.
