Sunbury Weight Training Club (SWTC) in Sunbury-on-Thames is where serious athletes come to train. Mick runs a top-notch, old-school gym that offers everything from strength training to bodybuilding, powerlifting to fitness and endurance.
For decades, Mick has built SWTC's reputation as a powerhouse in drug-free powerlifting. Just recently, the club's lifters have bagged twelve national titles, six European titles, two World titles, and have set six world records across three lifting federations. Lifters here range from juniors to masters, and right now, Mick is prepping two BDFPA British Champions for a world title in Malta and one IDFPA European Champion for a competition in the USA.
SWTC's success stems from the expert guidance and informal coaching from seasoned members. One of them even managed and competed with the Irish National Powerlifting team for three years in the Four Nations cup!
It's not a fancy place, but SWTC is the best old-school gym in the Southeast with loads of experience and a fantastic atmosphere. SWTC is affiliated with IAWA, the top organisation for drug-free All-Round Weightlifting in the UK, and is part of the Sunbury Sports Association, which means members get access to a modern clubhouse and bar, as well as a function room.
Mick’s club welcomes everyone, no matter who you are. They offer weight training, functional fitness, powerlifting, bodybuilding, and CrossFit-style training. Fancy giving it a go? SWTC offers guest passes for £10, including guidance for newcomers.
You’ll find SWTC at Geoff Kaye Memorial Ground, Kenton Court Meadow, Lower Hampton Road. It’s easily accessible for those in Sunbury-on-Thames and nearby London areas.
