Studio One Dorset's Centre for Performing Arts

Pete wanted to reach out with a quick note about Studio One Dorset's Centre for Performing Arts. Based in Wimborne, this dance and performing arts school has been around since 1981, and it's well-known in the area.

They’ve got some great facilities, including two large dance studios, a singing studio, and lots of space for changing and waiting around. There's even a dancewear shop and plenty of parking.

Studio One is a non-profit organisation, and they're all about offering top-notch dance education to folks of all ages and skill levels. They run classes in three main areas: Classical Ballet, Tap, and Modern/Jazz. It's a great mix, giving everyone a balanced learning experience.

One thing Pete really appreciates about Studio One is their focus on inclusivity. They make sure kids with learning difficulties and special educational needs are a part of everything. Every student gets a chance to learn and thrive in a supportive environment.

The school has something for everyone. Their Nursery Class is an introduction to dance for 3- and 4-year-olds, covering a bit of everything: Ballet, Tap, Modern, Singing, and First Stage Acrobatics. Qualified teachers and assistants are always on hand to look after the little ones.

For older kids, they’ve got classes from Preparatory level up to Grade 8 in Ballet, Tap, and Modern/Jazz. They also offer more advanced levels and diploma courses. Plus, there are Acrobatic classes and Stage and Musical Theatre classes, following the British Theatre Dance Association Acrobatic Syllabus.

The Stage classes are by invitation and cater to kids from 3 to 18. These focus on a variety of choreographic and musical theatre styles, giving students the chance to work on the school's annual production throughout the year.

Students at Studio One get a solid and structured dance education. They follow safe teaching principles, and students are regularly evaluated through exams to track their progress.
