At Studio 11 Pilates, the highly regarded STOTT PILATES method is utilised, alongside breathing and myofascial release techniques, to tailor private sessions specifically to each client's unique needs. With a focus on pain education, these sessions aim to improve the overall pain experience, enhance general well-being, increase flexibility, and promote muscle tone and overall strength.
Understanding that pain is a complex and personal experience, Studio 11 Pilates takes a biopsychosocial approach to chronic pain management. Founder Iris, a certified Pilates instructor trained in Classical and STOTT PILATES, completed pain studies at the NOI Group Australia and is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in Pain and Pain Management at the University of Otago. With a deep passion for helping individuals with chronic pain conditions, Iris incorporates pain education, functional movement, relaxation techniques, and myofascial release into her sessions, providing a holistic approach to pain management.
In addition to chronic pain management, Studio 11 Pilates offers specialised sessions for scoliosis management. These sessions incorporate elements of the 'Schroth Method,' a proven sequence of corrections and exercises aimed at elongating the spine, bringing it to the centre, and de-rotating it. While the Schroth Method has shown to slow curve progression and positively influence pain experience and body image, it is recommended to be used in conjunction with bracing if applicable, and not as a standalone treatment. Sessions for kids and teenagers typically last 30 minutes.
