Stubbington Karate Academy is a karate school located in Fareham, specifically in Stubbington. With a long tradition of providing quality martial arts training, the academy is dedicated to helping its members become their best selves. The focus of the academy is not just on demanding and challenging training, but also on promoting confidence, improving physical ability, teaching new techniques, and guiding students to progress through the ranks.
Respect for others and self-discipline are core values at Stubbington Karate Academy, and these principles are instilled in all students. The instructors at the academy are committed to being positive role models and providing excellent guidance and mentorship to the students. This is particularly important for families where a parent may be frequently away due to military service, as Stubbington Karate Academy aims to provide a supportive and nurturing environment that helps fill that void.
The academy offers classes for different age groups. The Infants class is designed for children aged between 4 and 8 years, ensuring a fun and safe learning environment for the youngest members. The Cadets class is for children aged between 8 and 14 years, focusing on teaching discipline, control, and self-defence. For adults aged 15 and upwards, there is the Seniors class, providing martial arts training suitable for all skill levels.
Class times are scheduled on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On Tuesdays, the Cadet class runs from 17:00 to 18:00, while the Adult class follows from 18:00 to 19:30. On Wednesdays, the Infant class takes place from 17:30 to 18:15.
In terms of instructor experience, Sensei Rob Wood, the head instructor, has been training in karate since 1988. He has trained under the guidance of experienced instructors and has achieved various dan grades, including 5th Dan in 2017. The academy also has several assistant instructors who provide additional support and guidance to ensure each student receives personalised attention and enhances their potential.
At Stubbington Karate Academy, strict dojo etiquette is emphasised. This includes maintaining a clean and tidy uniform (gi) and showing respect towards others both inside and outside the dojo. Students are expected to remove their shoes before entering the dojo, bow respectfully when entering and leaving, and address all instructors as Sensei or Sempai.
The academy is located at Crofton Community Centre on Stubbington Lane in Stubbington, Fareham. This convenient location affords easy access for students from the surrounding areas.
