Streetfunk Shoreham Hub, based in Shoreham-by-Sea, offers a variety of Streetdance classes for children aged 4 to 18. Founded by JP Omari, a prominent figure in Hip Hop dance within Brighton & Hove, Streetfunk aims to inspire and positively impact young people through dance.
JP Omari, an accomplished Hip Hop dancer, teacher, coach, and choreographer, leads Streetfunk with a focus on instilling hard work, discipline, respect, and confidence in his students. At Streetfunk, children learn various dance techniques while also developing their individuality, creativity, and self-expression.
Membership packages at Streetfunk Shoreham Hub start at £40 per month for one class per week. Members can also participate in the annual end-of-year production, “Straight Up.” Classes take place at The Shoreham Centre on 2 Pond Rd in Shoreham-by-Sea. JP Omari has earned widespread recognition in the dance community, both in the UK and internationally, for his performances, teaching, and judging competitions. Notably, he was the UK's first bboy to reach the semi-finals of the BBC's Strictly Dance Fever in 2006, and has worked with artists like Dizzee Rascal, Sean Paul, and Orbital.
Tony Mortimer of East 17 serves as the school's patron, acknowledging the significant impact Streetfunk has on young people from diverse backgrounds. He commends the school's talented choreographers and the positive environment they create, expressing his pride in being associated with Streetfunk.
