Welcome to Strathfieldsaye Bowls Club, affectionately known as “The Kookas. ” If you're seeking an active and friendly bowling club in Bendigo, then look no further. Established in 1985, our club has been meeting the needs of bowlers for over three decades and continues to grow. Currently, we have 120 members and counting.
Affiliated with the Bendigo Campaspe Goldfields (BCG) Bowls Region, we proudly compete in the Weekend (Saturday) Pennant with four teams and the Midweek (Monday) Pennant with two teams. Throughout the year, we organise various tournaments and club competitions, offering opportunities for all skill levels to participate and test their abilities.
Our club boasts two grass greens, widely regarded as the best in the region. The greens are complimented by excellent outdoor lighting, allowing for night bowling sessions. Social bowls take place on Wednesday afternoons at 1pm, providing a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for members to come together and play. And during the late summer period, we offer the popular activity of barefoot bowls on Friday evenings.
In addition to our regular activities, we also accommodate bowling days and evenings for work and social groups. Our clubrooms are cosy and offer a delightful view of the greens. Visitors often envy our facilities, which further enhance the overall bowling experience.
To assist beginners or those looking to improve their skills, we have experienced coaches available who are more than willing to help you learn the game and develop your technique. Whether you're a seasoned bowler or just starting out, our club is the perfect place to grow and enjoy the sport.
Beyond the bowling greens, we pride ourselves on our active social committee, who organise various events throughout the year. These gatherings provide opportunities for members and their families to come together, socialise, and forge lasting friendships.
